Penguin Ice Cream - Anniversary Block Party for Mental Health Awareness in Bernardsville

Penguin Ice Cream – Anniversary Block Party for Mental Health Awareness in Bernardsville

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ -- Penguin Ice Cream will fundraise during a five-year anniversary block party event Saturday, Nov. 15, from 12-4 p.m. at 3 Claremont Rd.

The quaint ice cream shop will reveal a new ice cream flurry flavor, and donate all proceeds to Morristown Medical Center and Active Minds at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania.

Active Minds is an organization dedicated to changing the conversation about mental health, and Caroline Och, daughter of Penguin Ice Cream owners says, “Due to the negative stigma, I was too scared and intimidated to voice my opinions on the importance of mental health, so at first I didn’t join Active Minds.” Well, finally Och changed her mind, and became a big advocate for raising awareness on her Susquehanna campus.

The block-party-style event this weekend is open to all ages, so grab some friends and participate in the beanbag tournament, ice cream eating contest, pin the cone on the penguin, and even splash some color on paper penguins for the walls of the ice cream shop while you’re there. There will be a silent auction and a live music performance by store manager, Tony Franco, and his upbeat post-rock band, One Two Twins.

Don’t miss out! This is one of the few times you can actually take your kids to an ice cream shop before dinnertime. Penguin Ice Cream will have hamburgers, hotdogs, ice cream, candy and beverages for sale.
