Bedminster Township Police reported the following recent activity, including theft by deception.

The following actions were reported by the Bedminster Township Police Department:
On Aug. 10, a Somerset resident filed a report with Bedminster Police about a scam with a vacation rental property. The male said that on May 22, his wife communicated via e-mail with someone supposedly named Scott Maselli about renting a vacation property in Point Pleasant Beach, police reported. The couple wired $1,100 from a Bank of America in Pluckemin to a branch in Charlotte, N.C. on May 23, police said. A few weeks later, the couple became suspicious and decided to drive to the address in Point Pleasant Beach. A realtor there told them that this was a scam and has happened often at that address for the past six years, police said.
On Aug. 13, Bedminster Police arrested a Fairbanks Lane man in Basking Ridge after they pulled him over for speeding on Lamington Road in his Audi A4. Michael Kurtz, 31, was arrested for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
