Precise Publications is “Gearing Up” for Their 5th Annual Autism Bike Ride This May
BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY – It may only be January and too cold to think about bike riding just yet, but for everyone at Precise Publications, it’s never too early to start raising awareness for autism. “Pedal for the Puzzle,” Precise Publications’ 5th Annual Bike Ride for Autism, encourages everyone to get involved on May 16. One-hundred percent of the proceeds collected will go to the Somerset Hills Learning Institute and Autism New Jersey, two phenomenal organizations dedicated to helping those with autism and their families. Last year, nearly 100 cyclists participated and $20,000 was raised for Autism New Jersey.
“Pedal for the Puzzle” matters to everyone at Precise Publications since a number of the company’s friends and employees have children with an autism diagnosis. Autism represents a spectrum of neurodevelopmental disorders (ASDs) characterized by mild to severe impairment in social interaction, communication, and behavior. The condition affects 1 in 68 children nationwide and 1 in 45 children in New Jersey, which has the nation’s highest rate of autism. The causes of autism are not clear and it is not curable, but children with ASDs benefit greatly from early diagnosis and treatment.
Christy Quast, longtime employee and supporter of Precise Publications’ “Pedal for the Puzzle,” said, “As a mom to a 15-year daughter with Asperger’s Syndrome, it was exciting to see our company organize this event to raise awareness about autism and how it affects those diagnosed and their families. I hope more people will join us and become involved! #IAMINVOLVED.”
It’s easy to say, “Get involved,” but this year, make the commitment to actually be involved. Go to http://pedalforthepuzzle.com. There anyone can register for the event, donate to the cause, and check out the sponsorship packages.
On the home and donation pages there is a team-building link that reads “#IAMINVOLVED with MY TEAM.” Anyone who registers has the option to create a team who then fundraises together. The team page can be made in honor of an individual, for example a friend or a family member with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and team members are encouraged to reach out to people to help raise money. Additionally, the first twenty-five people to register for the event will receive a free jersey.
“Pedal for the Puzzle” has been an ongoing, growing event since 2011. All who attend, sponsor, and donate will be a part of making this year’s ride the most successful to date.
