'RESIST' Cut Into Corn Field, Damaging $1K In Crops In Bedminster

A Bedminster local was also arrested for heroin and syringe following a traffic stop in the town, police report in the blotter.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — One and half acres of a corn field was damaged when someone cut the word "RESIST" into it in Bedminster, police report.

On July 15 at 1:44 p.m., Bedminster Police responded to Larger Cross Road for a report of damage to the corn field.

The officer spoke with a farm employee on site who advised approximately one and a half acres of corn was damaged with the word “RESIST” cut into the field. The employee estimated the crop value to be about $1,000, Bedminster Police report.

The owner of the crops rents the land. The damage was found to be caused by the sister of the owner of the land. The owner agreed to reimburse for the damages.

On July 10 at 2:22 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded to Affinity (1520 Route 206) for a report of a fraud. The officer spoke with an employee who advised that at approximately 12:45 p.m. an unidentified black male attempted to open an account at the Cedar Knolls Affinity branch using a fraudulent NJ driver’s license. The Affinity corporate office was notified and notified all branches. A male subject contacted the Bedminster branch requesting an appointment to open an account utilizing the same name displayed on the fraudulent driver’s license. At 3:29 p.m., the Bedminster branch called to advise the male was currently in the bank. Subsequent to the investigation, Trent Marshall, 28, of Bronx, New York was arrested for 2C:21-2.1c, 3 rd degree (possessing false documents). The victim of the identity theft was also notified of the incident.

On July 10 at 11:33 p.m.: Bedminster Police initiated a motor vehicle stop on a white Nissan on Interstate 287 southbound at mile marker 21.8 after observing the vehicle make a left turn from the River Road jug handle while the traffic signal was red. Subsequent to the investigation, Jonathan Marvine, 23, of Parlin was arrested for a criminal warrant out of Asbury Park for $750. Marvine was unable to post bail and was turned over to Asbury Park Police. Marvine was also issued motor vehicle summonses for 39:4-81 (failure to observe traffic control device) and 39:3-40 (driving while suspended).

On July 13 at 1:57 p.m.: Bedminster Police responded to the cell tower located on Cowperthwaite Road near Elizabeth Lane in regards to a theft. The field operations technician for T-Mobile advised the officer that on July 10 at 7 a.m. T-Mobile received an alarm that there was an issue with one of the electrical cabinets located at this site. Upon arrival the employee stated that he found four deep cycle batteries were missing, worth approximately $1,200.

On July 15 at 11:05 p.m.: Bedminster Police were dispatched to the area of Hills Drive for a report of a possible DUI driver. The vehicle registration was provided and it was described as a VW Jetta driving erratically coming from Bridgewater. The officers located the vehicle on Wentworth road with a male in the driver’s seat. Subsequent to the investigation, Mitchell Kramer, 20, of Stone Run Road in Bedminster was arrested for 2C:35-10A(1) (possession of a schedule 1 CDS (heroin)), 2C:36-6A (possession of a syringe) and 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia). Kramer was also issued motor vehicle summonses for 39:4-97 (careless driving) and 39:4-49.1 (possession of CDS in a motor vehicle).
