Road Rage Incident Escalates To Assault In Bedminster

A Hillsborough man followed another driver who allegedly gave him the middle finger in Bedminster, police report.

BEDMINSTER, NJ — A Hillsborough man followed another driver in a road rage incident that escalated into assault recently in Bedminster, police report.

On Jan. 28 at 9:36 a.m., Bedminster Police were called to Schley Mountain Road in the area of the pump station for a reported assault and road rage incident.

The driver of a Ford Pickup, Etienne Dipaolo, 56, of Hillsborough said he was going to make a right turn on Ramp Road from Route 202/206 north and moved to the extreme right on the shoulder to allow a Honda Ridgeline to pass, Bedminster Police report.

Dipaolo said as the Honda passed the driver honked the horn and gave him the middle finger.

Dipaolo said he began following the Honda and as it pulled over he pulled behind it to find out what the driver’s problem was, according to police.

The driver of the Honda, Ronald Lacaillade, 59, of Asbury approached Dipaolo telling him to "calm down." Once the two men got closer, Dipaolo pushed Lacaillade, causing him to strike his head on his vehicle’s door frame, police report.

Both parties declined pursuing any charges.
