Skin Cancer Screening Offered To Bernardsville Residents
Skin Cancer Screenings will be held on Tuesday, July 19 and Monday, July 25.

Bernardsville, NJ - With theĀ warmer weather here and more people going outside, it's important to protect yourself.
The Bernards Township Health Department has scheduled Skin Cancer Screenings for Tuesday, July 19Ā and Monday, July 25.
This screening is offered to local residents age 18 years and older, who are not currently under the care of a dermatologist, and who have not attended a Bernards Township Skin Cancer Screening in the past.

The Bernards Township Health Department is a Contractual Health Agency serving Bernards Township, Bernardsville Borough, Chester Borough, Long Hill Township, Mendham Borough, Mendham Township, and Peapack and Gladstone Borough. Ā
āResearch shows that each year thereĀ are more new cases of skin cancerĀ than the combined incidence of cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and colon,"Ā Health Officer, Lucy Forgione stated in a release. "According to the American Cancer Society,Ā melanoma accounts for only a small percentage of skin cancers, but itās much more likely to grow and spread to other parts of the body, where it can be hard to treat. Melanoma is almost always curable when itās found in very early stages.ā

The screening is conducted by a board certified dermatologist, will include a full body exam, and prevention information in conjunction with the guidelines from the American Academy of Dermatology.Ā All participants will receive a copy of their screening results.
Pre-registration isĀ requiredĀ and can be done at the Bernards Township Health Department located at 262 South Finley Avenue in Basking Ridge or by phone atĀ 908-204-2520. Ā
The screening will take place at the Fellowship Village Wellness Center in the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township on Tuesday, July 19Ā fromĀ 2 to 6 p.m.Ā andĀ on Monday, July 25Ā fromĀ 3Ā to 7Ā p.m.Ā The suggested donation is $10.Ā
