Experience the soothing effects of the gong—a deep state of relaxation, meditation and healing—in this program led by Wanda Knapik on Tuesday, April 12 at 7:00 pm at Bernardsville Public Library.
Sound healing, which dates back centuries, can be an effective way to reduce stress and create a deep sense of peace. Ms. Knapik, who plays a 32-inch flat suspended Heng Gong, has been using sound therapy for many years for relaxation and healing. Participants can either lie on the floor (bring a yoga mat or blanket) or sit in a chair. For the best experience, don’t wear metal watches, jewelry, or clothing with metal buttons.
Ms. Knapik is deeply connected to the natural world and uses all her senses to feel the healing energy around her. Whether she’s planting in the garden, hiking in the woods, or playing the gong, she knows that natural elements of plants, animals, water, sound—the entire web of life—are healing what needs to be healed at that moment. She has experienced physical, emotional and spiritual healing using nature’s sounds of the gong and drumming.

As the founder and owner of My Local Garden, Ms. Knapik helps connect people to nature by educating and inspiring children and adults to grow organic food at home and in their community gardens. She also assists with garden design, installation and planting. She is, she says, "sowing seeds of hope and raising awareness about local and global environmental issues" as an active member of the Bernardsville Green Team and Founder of the Permaculture Network of NJ.
