"Stowing Towing Tax Penalty...Risk & Waste...Collect Some More"
Stop the Press!!! Don't print this! The town of Bridgewater does not want you to know…
They are trying to impose a new towing ordinance on the taxpayers. That is us. An additional $50 fee if we need to be towed within the Bridgewater Township. The motoring public is already paying their taxes. Why is this needed? What is the $50 actually for? They have not yet said. Government should not compete with free enterprise businesses. This goes against Bridgewater’s claim that they would support the Somerset County economic initiatives that include minimizing the regulatory burdens already present on small business. The towing and storing business is not their business. It is not right…write to be infringing upon the private sector business. They tried to get into the storing business back in 2010. It was proven a bad idea then and still is four years later. They keep trying to tow us along for their ride.
Bridgewater…the crossroads of New Jersey…every time you cross their roads with a problem you can expect to pay the price. The towing companies will be forced to collect the fees which will make it appear as though the charge is coming from them. It is not coming from them. Another story of doling out the punishment and letting others pay the price.
Did you know the towers are often the first responders? They play a part in clearing our roadways that move our economy. If you are a citizen who believes in cutting taxes by utilizing shared services and reducing expenses, and not gambling with taxpayer dollars to try to raise money for big government then you should be concerned. Big government never seems to be able to run as efficiently as private sector. I think it is called greed.

Finally, they are imposing an additional regulatory burden to process and submit paperwork; requiring towing companies to submit their records each month to be evaluated by the township. It is a waste of resources to do it and a waste of taxpayer money for the police officers to oversee the paperwork. It takes away from their more important police duties. The ones that make a difference. The police chief is gaining the sole authority to grant towing authorities instead of a committee to make fair and impartial decisions. Isn’t there a saying about too many chiefs and not enough Indians? Didn’t we already take away enough from the Indians?
Underlying sneakery. It reminds me of the witches who cast spells on their unknowing victims…

An idea that only benefits them mixed in a brew of power. They cast the spell and our money disappears…
The final vote is coming up on the 20th at 7:00pm in the Bridgewater Municipal Building. This will be passed unless we speak up!
