"Summer Sizzle," an exhibition of paintings in pastel, oil and acrylic by Medy Bozkurtian, on view July 5-30, 2017.

Bernardsville Public Library is pleased to present "Summer Sizzle," an exhibition of paintings in pastel, oil and acrylic by Medy Bozkurtian, on view July 5-30, 2017. Ms. Bozkurtian describes her artwork as greatly influenced by her world travels and inspired by her love of music, people and nature. "I endeavor to capture the essence and spirit of my diverse range of subjects with expressive realism and a touch of impressionism," she says, "Music is an integral part of the creative process for me.”
Ms. Bozkurtian, a resident of East Hanover, started drawing and classical piano at a very early age in her native Bulgaria. After she immigrated to America, she studied piano pedagogy at the Juilliard School of Music and oil painting at the Art Students’ League, both in New York City. She taught piano and painted in her studio in New York. A few years ago, she and her husband moved to New Jersey to be closer to their grandchildren.
In recent years, Ms. Bozkurtian has been exploring the magical medium of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic painting. She studied at the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts and Ridgewood Art Institute, and with noted artists around the world like Alavaro Castagnet, Edwin Havas, Carl Burger, Dorothy Ganek, Don Andrews, Joel Popadics, Robert Saxon, John Salminen, Robert Burridge and others.
