Trapped Deer Who Fell Through Frozen Pond Rescued In Bernardsville

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — Bernardsville and Peapack and Gladstone fire fighters braved the bitter cold to rescue a trapped deer from a frozen pond in town.

The Bernardsville Fire Company was called to a home in town for a dog that chased a deer across a pond. The deer fell into the ice and and became trapped and the dog would not leave the area, Bernardsville Fire Company reported.

The dog eventually left before fire fighters arrived and with the help of Peapack Gladstone and their ice rescue team the Bernardsville Fire Company was able to remove the deer.

However, despite valiant efforts to save the deer, he did not survive. We take these types of calls seriously, the fire company posted.
