Walk To Benefit 7-Year-Old Bernardsville Boy With Rare Disease
Locals will be walking on Saturday to find a cure for the rare genetic disease, Mecp2 Duplication, in honor of 7-year-old Neil Hajjar.

BERNARDSVILLE, NJ — Locals will be walking on Saturday to find a cure for the rare genetic disease, Mecp2 Duplication, in honor of 7-year-old Neil Hajjar of Bernardsville who was born with it.
The walk will be held at Bernards High School in the Upper Gym at 25 Olcott Ave. in Bernardsville from noon to 3 p.m.
All money raised will go towards research to help find a cure for the disease.

"Most people with this condition also have weak muscle tone in infancy, feeding difficulties, poor or absent speech, or muscle stiffness (rigidity). Individuals with MECP2 duplication syndrome have delayed development of motor skills such as sitting and walking," according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
If unable to attend the walk, donations can be mailed to: Neil Hajjar, 15 West St., Bernardsville, NJ 07924. Checks should be written to Rett Syndrome Research Trust.
