Watercolor Artist Makes a Splash with Painting of Bernardsville Monument
Marilyn Rose's painting of the water tower from Cross Garden Estates is on display in New York

A watercolor painting by Marilyn Rose, of West Caldwell, New Jersey, entitled Tilting at Windmills, has been accepted into the 118th Annual Open Juried Exhibition of The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art at the National Arts Club, 15 Gramercy Park South, New York, NY 10003. This prestigious exhibition of art features a variety of media by women artists who competed from all over the United States, Canada and Europe. It is open to the public from December 2 through December 19, 2014-- Monday through Friday, 12 noon - 6 PM and weekend hours 1 - 6 PM.
The original watercolor was painted on location at Cross Estate Gardens in Bernardsville, New Jersey. Many of Marilyn’s watercolors depict New Jersey and she can often be seen painting at some of New Jersey’s lovely rural locations and historic sites as well as on the local streets of town where she captures homes, businesses, farmers markets and general New Jersey life. She is often called upon to paint commissioned portraits of local homes and businesses.
Marilyn is proud to have been recently elected to full membership status of The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club which one of the oldest women’s art clubs in the country and was founded in 1896 in honor of Miss Wolfe, a prominent New York philanthropist and an avid art collector who was the only woman among the 106 founders of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Club now organizes exhibitions, lectures, scholarships and other art related activities. Five of Marilyn’s paintings are also featured at part of the 5th Annual New Brunswick Art Salon at Alfa Gallery in New Brunswick, New Jersey through November 24th.
Marilyn teaches watercolor classes and workshops at many cultural institutions including the Art School at the Old Church, in Demarest, NJ, and the Bloomfield Art League in Bloomfield, New Jersey. She will be giving an all-day watercolor workshop in March for the Essex watercolor club and this summer she will, once again, be teaching her plein air workshop in August at the Gibson House Bed & Breakfast in Haverhill, New Hampshire.

Marilyn Rose is also a signature member of the Northeast Watercolor Society, New Jersey Watercolor Society, Garden State Watercolor Club.
