What Is Bernardsville, Bedminster's Average Property Tax Bill?

Bernardsville taxes have gone up recently, but not as much as you might think. While Bedminster's taxes have gone down.

BERNARDSVILLE/BEDMINSTER, NJ — Bernardsville and Bedminster residents tax bills are on opposite sides of the spectrum as one has gone up and another has gone down.

The average Bernardsville resident's property tax bill went up from 2017 to 2018, data released this week by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs shows.

The average Bernardsville homeowner paid $15,362 in 2018, a 1.60 percent increase from 2017. The average bill was 34th highest in New Jersey and the highest in Somerset County.

While had the lowest average tax bill of $6,182 and the lowest decrease of -2.04 percent in Somerset County.

Between 2017 and 2018, the average homeowner's tax bill rose to $8,767, an increase of $77, less than 1 percent, which was an improvement over the 2016 hike of 2.3 percent. It was lower than the 2 percent cap former Gov. Chris Christie put into effect in 2011, according to the analysis.
