2,977 Lights In Bloomfield Will Honor 9/11 Victims On Saturday

In honor of the lives lost, 2,977 luminary bags will be lit and placed around the Town Green, and will remain there until 9:11 p.m.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield will hold a remembrance ceremony for the victims of 9/11 on the 20th anniversary of the attacks on Saturday, Sept. 11.

According to the Bloomfield Parks and Recreation Department, the ceremony will take place on the historic Town Green at 84 Broad Street.

Violinist David Podles will perform starting at 6 p.m. The official ceremony will start at 7 p.m. and will include reflections from the mayor and council, a wreath dedication and songs by the Sacred Heart Choir, which will give a performance inside the church immediately following the ceremony.

“If you are interested in volunteering to create the luminary bags, place them along the Town Green and light them (battery operated), visit www.bloomfieldrecreation.org to sign up to become a volunteer. Volunteer sessions will be split into two groups on Saturday, September 11 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Both sessions will have a maximum of 50 volunteers.”
