2 Burglaries At Same Bloomfield Apartment Building

A pair of residents at the same Belleville Avenue property reported home burglaries on the same day, Bloomfield police say.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A pair of Bloomfield residents at the same Belleville Avenue property reported home burglaries on the same day earlier this month, authorities say.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the alleged burglaries took place at 355 Belleville Avenue on Oct. 17. Authorities provided the following information about the incidents.

“Officers observed pry marks on the apartment door, which was not secured. While making entrance into the apartment, no one was inside and the scene was secured. The resident of the apartment had arrived home and was advised of the findings. The resident stated that he left his door secured when he had left out earlier that day. The resident indicated that the missing items taken from the apartment were a silver wristwatch, $650 in bills and $3 in quarters.”

“The victim stated that he left around 10 a.m. and returned at 4 p.m. on Oct. 17. When he arrived home and entered his residence, he noticed his Navy Blue tote bag missing from a shelf in his dining room area which he kept about $80 of loose change in. The victim continued through the residence and noticed some paperwork was in a pile on the floor in his bedroom which was not there prior to him leaving the residence. The victim observed signs of forced entry tool pry marks by the handle along with damaged to the door above the dead bolt. Officers were advised of several outside video cameras located that might have captured the suspect on different buildings in the area.”
