2 Cars Stolen In Bloomfield: 1 Left Running, Another With Key Inside

PD: A thief stole a car while the owner was taking groceries into her home. Another victim left her car in the driveway with the fob inside.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Two vehicles were stolen in Bloomfield last week, with one left running and another with the key fob left inside, authorities announced Thursday.

Bloomfield police released the following details about each theft.

Aug. 31 – Officers responded to the 200-block of Bloomfield Avenue after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. A resident said she left her vehicle running and unattended while she took groceries up to her apartment. When she returned, she noticed the car was missing. The vehicle, a 2021 red Honda Accord, was entered as stolen. A police investigation continues, authorities said.

Sept. 2 – Officers responded to the area of Ernst Avenue after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. A resident parked her vehicle in her driveway at 7:22 a.m. and left the key fob in the vehicle. When she returned 20 minutes later, it was missing. The vehicle, a gray 2023 Jeep Grand Wagon, was recovered via GPS unoccupied at the Jersey Gardens Mall. A police investigation continues, authorities said.
