2 Cars Stolen In Bloomfield; 2 Attempted Thefts Reported: Police
One of the victims left their car unlocked and running on Bloomfield Avenue, police said.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Two cars were recently stolen in Bloomfield and two attempted vehicle thefts were reported over a four-day span, authorities announced Friday.
The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about each incident:
Dec. 20 – “Officers responded to the 300-block of Hoover Avenue on report of an Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident parked her vehicle on the street overnight, and upon returning to it the following morning, she noticed the rear driver’s side window was shattered. There was also extensive damage to the ignition and steering column. Nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle at this time. This incident is under investigation.”

Dec. 23 – “Officers responded to the area of Gillespie Road on report of an Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident heard the alarm on his vehicle sounding. When he went to check the vehicle, he noticed the front passenger side window was shattered and there was damage to the ignition and steering column. This incident is under investigation.”
Dec. 23 – “Officers responded to 570 Bloomfield Avenue on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant left his vehicle unlocked and running in front of the business while he went inside. Upon returning, he noticed the vehicle was missing. The vehicle, a red 2017 Toyota Camry, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Dec. 23 – “Officers responded to the area of Lakewood Terrace on report of Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident parked his vehicle on the street overnight and upon returning to it the following morning, he noticed it was missing. There was also broken glass where the vehicle was parked. The vehicle, a gray 2019 Hyundai Elantra, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
