2026 Primary Election In Bloomfield: Town Council Candidates, Voter Info

Several Democrats are competing for seats on the Bloomfield Town Council. No Republicans filed to run in the primary.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Several town council candidates have filed to run as Democrats in Bloomfield upcoming primary election.

Seats on the Bloomfield Town Council are available in all three wards. Terms last for three years.

Democratic and Republican candidates will compete for their party’s nomination in a primary election on Tuesday, June 2. The winners will match up against any independent or third-party candidates for all the marbles in a general election on Nov. 3.

No Republicans filed to run for Bloomfield Town Council in the 2026 primary election, according to the Essex County Clerk’s Office.

Bloomfield Ward 2

Bloomfield Ward 3

In addition to the Bloomfield Town Council races, local voters will get to cast ballots for several county and federal seats. Primary races are taking place for U.S. senator, a U.S. House of Representatives seat in the 11th district, Essex County executive and the Essex County Board of Commissioners.

VOTER INFORMATION

Election Day for the 2026 primary takes place on June 2. Early in-person voting will take place from May 26 to May 31.

Here are a couple of other important dates for Bloomfield voters to keep in mind if they plan to cast a ballot in the primary, according to the Essex County Board of Elections:

  • Last day for registration and transfer (21 days prior to election), May 12, 2026
  • Last day to apply by mail for a Vote-By-Mail Ballot (seven days prior to election), May 26, 2026
