4 Essex County Teachers Keep Learning, Earn $5K Scholarships

The scholarships will help 4 Essex County educators earn their endorsements in physics or chemistry.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — They say that learning never stops. That’s certainly the case for four Essex County teachers, who recently earned $5,000 scholarships from the Bayer USA Foundation and the Thompson Family Foundation to earn their physics or chemistry endorsement through the nonprofit NJ Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).

Teachers from all across New Jersey and from many different academic disciplines applied for the scholarships, which aim to combat a “dire teacher shortage in critical STEM areas,” according to the CTL.

The following teachers earned a scholarship:

  • Angel Gonzalez - Essex County Vocational Tech
  • Meredith Pressler - Essex County Vocational Tech
  • Heather Suzel - Essex County Vocational Tech
  • Joya Clark - Sojourn High School at the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center

The scholarships will enable each teacher to earn their endorsements in physics or chemistry through CTL, the nonprofit stated.
