3 Cars Stolen In Bloomfield, 1 Involved In Crash: Police

Three cars were stolen in Bloomfield, including one with a service dog still inside and another that was involved in a crash, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Three cars were stolen in Bloomfield last week, including one with a service dog still inside and another that was involved in a crash, authorities announced Friday.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following statements about each theft.

Jan. 23 – “Officers responded to 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) on report of a motor vehicle theft with a service dog inside. The complainants left their vehicle running in the lot while they went inside the store. When they returned to their vehicle approximately 25 minutes later, the vehicle and the dog were both missing. The vehicle, a red 2023 Subaru CTK, was entered into NCIC as stolen. The vehicle was located in Newark, NJ a short time later and the dog was found by a Newark resident and turned over to Newark Animal Shelter. Jan. 26 – “Officers responded to the area of Lexington Avenue on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident parked his vehicle in his driveway at 9 a.m. and upon returning to it at 2 p.m., he noticed it was missing. The vehicle, a blue 2009 Mazda CX9, was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Jan. 29 – “Officers responded to the area of Elmwood Avenue and Jefferson Avenue on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident parked her vehicle on the street at 11:30 p.m. The following day at 5 p.m., she received a call from Woodbridge Police Department advising her that her vehicle was involved in an accident and the driver left the scene. The resident then realized that her vehicle was stolen. The vehicle, a gray 2007 Honda Accord, was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
