4 Burglaries In Bloomfield: Pizzeria, Café, Value/Beauty Shops

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Four Bloomfield businesses were recently burglarized within less than two weeks of each other, police said. The victimized businesses are Super Value, Sally’s Beauty Shop, Calabrese Pizzeria and Havana Café.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township.

• May 22 – “An officer was dispatched to 565 Bloomfield Avenue (Super Value store) on a report of a burglary. The store owner observed that the side door glass was shattered and items thrown throughout the store. 15 cartons of Newport cigarettes were taken valued at $1,200. A rock was located in the middle of the street which was observed to be the object used to break the glass. This incident is under investigation.”
• May 25 – “Officers were dispatched to Berkeley Avenue on a report of a burglary. Complainant reported while parking in the driveway of her business (Sally’s Beauty Shop). She noticed the door was open and observed coins on the ground. Signs of forced entry were observed on the back door. There was nothing missing from the store. This incident is under investigation.”
• May 25 – “Officers were dispatched to 132 Franklin Street on a report of a burglary. The complainant observed that Calabrese Pizzeria had a smashed front window. The store owner arrived on scene and informed officers that $700 was taken from the register. This incident is under investigation.”
• June 1 – “Officers were dispatched to 416 Bloomfield Avenue (Havana Cafe) on a report of a burglary. An employee reported that she observed the cash register missing and a window open in the rear of the building. The manager arrived and confirmed that a total of $450 was missing from the register. The owner was able to review surveillance video which captured two unknown males entering the establishment through an unlocked rear window. Suspect 1 [was described as a] male, 5 feet 10 inches and 160 pounds with light-colored hair, wearing a light-colored, hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, dark sneakers with a white stripe. Suspect 2 [was described as a] male, 6 feet and 220 pounds, wearing a light-colored, hooded sweatshirt covering his face and head and light-colored pants. This incident is under investigation.”
