4 Stolen Car Attempts In Bloomfield In 5 Days: Police

Bloomfield residents reported 3 stolen vehicles and an attempt in a five-day period, authorities said. Find out where the thefts took place.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield residents reported three stolen vehicles and a stolen vehicle attempt in a five-day period earlier this month, authorities said.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township:

  • 5/14/18 - Officers were dispatched to 491 Bloomfield Avenue (Exxon Gas Station) on a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The operator of the vehicle left the car unattended and running while he entered the store of the gas station. An unknown male wearing a gray hoodie and pants jumped in and drove away. The driver’s school documents, work uniform, iPhone 6s rose gold with black case, $30 in cash, NJ driver’s license and wallet were in the vehicle. The vehicle is a 2004 Silver Toyota Corolla. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.
  • 5/16/18 - An officer was dispatched to Spruce Street on a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The owner of the vehicle reported that when he returned home on May 15 at 7 pm, he parked his vehicle in front of his home. On May 16, when he went to his vehicle, he noticed it was missing. The vehicle is a 1998 Acura Integra. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.
  • 5/16/18 - Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Broad Street on a report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant reports that she received a call from Sea Breeze auto shop about her car being ready to be picked up. When she arrived at the auto shop, the car was not located. Store employees were able to play surveillance video which captured an unknown African-American male, six feet, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white sneakers. The suspect entered the vehicle and fled north on Broad St. The vehicle is a 2012 Honda Odyssey. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen.
  • 5/18/18 - Officers were dispatched to 203 Bloomfield Avenue (The Bar) on an attempt auto theft. The complainant reports that he parked his work vehicle in front of the establishment on May 17 at 10:15 pm. On May 18 at 5:40 pm when he returned to his vehicle, he discovered that his engine was running and the ignition was damaged with parts on the floor. Surveillance cameras were located with an image of the suspect. The suspect is described as 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches, 200 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, and black gloves. This incident is under investigation.
