5 Car Thefts, Attempted Thefts Reported In Bloomfield
One car owner wasn't aware her vehicle was stolen until it was involved in a crash, Bloomfield police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Five car thefts and attempted thefts were reported in Bloomfield last week, authorities announced Thursday.
The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about each incident.
Sept. 25 – “Officers responded to the area of Aldon Terrace on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident parked his vehicle in front of his residence on Sept. 24 at 8:20 p.m. At 11:53 p.m. the complainant’s cameras show two white SUVs pull up in front of the residence and a suspect enter his vehicle. The key fob was left inside of the vehicle. The vehicle, a white 2021 Volkswagen Atlas, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Sept. 30 – “Officers responded to the area of Birch Street on report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. A resident parked her vehicle in her driveway overnight and upon returning to it the following morning, she noticed that the steering column had extensive damage. This incident is under investigation.”
Sept. 30 – “Officers responded to the area of Barbara Street on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident was advised by the Newark Police Department that her vehicle was involved in an accident in Newark. The resident was not aware that her vehicle was stolen from her driveway. This incident is under investigation.”

A resident parked her vehicle on the street overnight and upon returning to it the following morning, she noticed the rear passenger side window broken and extensive damage to the steering column. This incident is under investigation.”
Oct. 1 – “Officers responded to the area of Barbara Street on report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. A resident parked his vehicle on the street overnight and upon returning to it the following morning, he noticed the rear passenger side window broken and extensive damage to the steering column. This incident is under investigation.”
