6 Stolen Cars In Bloomfield, Including 3 At Local Businesses: Police
Six cars were stolen in Bloomfield over a seven-day span. The victims included an Uber Eats driver, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Six cars were stolen in Bloomfield over a seven-day span last week, authorities announced Thursday. Vehicle thefts were reported at multiple businesses, including IHOP, 7-Eleven and a local Chinese takeout restaurant.
The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about each theft.
Jan. 16 – “Officers responded to the rear lot of 542 Bloomfield Avenue (IHOP) on report of a motor vehicle theft. The caller observed a vehicle running in the rear parking lot with the passenger side window broken. Officers also observed the ignition column was tampered with. The owner was notified and responded to the scene and stated that it was a company vehicle that had last been utilized on Jan. 11. This incident is under investigation.”

Jan. 17 – “Officers responded to 544 Broad Street (7-Eleven) on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident left his vehicle running with the keys inside while he went inside of the convenience store. Upon returning to it, he noticed it was gone. The vehicle, a blue 2008 BMW 3 series, was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
Jan. 20 – “Officers responded to the 100-block of Franklin Street on report of a motor vehicle theft. The complainant parked his vehicle on Jan. 19 at 6 p.m. in the lot behind the apartment building. When he woke up at 2:45 a.m., he noticed his vehicle was no longer there. The vehicle, a white 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Jan. 20 – “Officers responded to the area of Monroe Place on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident left his vehicle running and unlocked outside. A few moments later his roommate observed a male wearing a blue vest and black pants pull on the door handle of the vehicle, enter it and flee the scene. The vehicle, a silver 2005 Volkswagen Jetta, was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
Jan. 22 – “Officers responded to 111 Bloomfield Avenue (Number 1 Chinese Restaurant) on report of a motor vehicle theft. The complainant left her vehicle running with the keys inside in front of the restaurant and when she returned, the vehicle was gone. The complainant is an Uber Eats driver and was picking up an order. The vehicle, a blue 2017 Honda Accord, was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
Jan. 22 – “Officers responded to the area of First Avenue on report of a motor vehicle theft. The owner parked his vehicle on the street and when he returned, the vehicle was gone. The complainant believes he left his key fob in his cousin’s car which was parked in the driveway and was broken into. The vehicle, a white 2013 Honda Civic, was entered into NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
