A Winning Season For Bloomfield College's Terry Gibbs

Men's soccer forward receives accolades for athletics and academics.

 

Bloomfield College men's soccer forward Terry Gibbs (London, England) has been named a Daktronics second team All-American, in results released November 30, 2011.  

The 2011 CACC Player of the Year and a first team All-East Region selection, Gibbs tallied 18 goals during a brilliant senior campaign, the second-highest scoring total in Division II soccer.  The London, England native also finished in the top five in the country in goals per game (1.14), total points (43) and points per game (2.71).  During an extraordinary 10-game stretch to close the season, Gibbs tallied an astounding 17 goals, including three hat tricks against CACC opponents (Concordia College, Holy Family University and Wilmington University).

The striker also made his presence felt as a distributor, ranking 35th in the nation with seven assists.  Helping guide the Deacons to the fourth seed in the CACC Tournament, Gibbs notched six multi-goal games in 2011, with six game-winning goals to his credit.  One of the top collegiate professional prospects in the country, Gibbs is currently ranked #51 on Topdrawersoccer.com's 'Top 100 Senior Professional Prospects' list, and is the only Division II player to make the rankings.

Also a standout in the classroom, Gibbs was named a first team Capital One Academic All-American earlier this week, becoming the only CACC student-athlete to receive the prestigious award.

"Terry is an outstanding player and an even better person, so we are all extremely proud of him for all the recognition he has received," Bloomfield head coach Peter-John Falloon said.  "His work ethic is unmatched, and it shows in everything he does, whether it be on the field or in the classroom.  He will undoubtedly be successful at the next level, because of the type of person he is."
