Three students at Bloomfield College have been selected for Capital One’s Academic All-District Teams, set up by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Men's soccer senior forward Terry Gibbs (London, England) and sophomore midfielder Claude Allen (Kingston, Jamaica) have both been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team.
Carrying a 3.5 cumulative Grade Point Average as an International Business major, Gibbs became one of the top players in the nation in 2011, finishing second in the country in goals (18), total points (43) and points per game (2.67). The 2011 CACC Player of the Year, Gibbs notched six game-winning goals for the Deacons (10-7-1), and tallied three hat tricks against CACC opponents, while placing third in the nation in goals per game (1.16) and 30th in the country in assists (7).

Allen enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign in 2011 while carrying a 3.3 GPA as an Accounting major, placing ninth in the country and in a tie for second in the CACC with nine assists, as well as placing third on the Deacons with six goals, a career-high. The midfielder's outstanding play earned him a second team All-CACC selection.
"To be a true student-athlete, you must be successful both on the field and in the classroom, and these players have been able to accomplish that," Bloomfield head coach Peter-John Falloon said. "I am extremely proud of Terry and Claude for the hard work and effort they put forth in both areas, and they have set an example for our program as to what is expected."

Women's soccer sophomore defender Mikkie Bradley (Jackson, N.J.) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Second Team.
Currently carrying a 3.4 cumulative Grade Point Average as a Print/Digital Media major, Bradley is one of just six CACC players to make an Academic All-District team in 2011. The sophomore totaled six goals and an assist to finish second on the Lady Deacons (2-15) in goals this season, with all the defender's tallies coming off free-kicks.
"We are extremely proud of Mikie for her tremendous play on the field, and for the outstanding work she does in the classroom," Bloomfield head coach Katie Egan said. "She deserves any accolade that comes her way, and has truly become a leader for our program on and off the field. Hopefully this is something all of our student-athletes can now strive for."
