Airbag Thieves Hit Cars In Bloomfield; Cops Search For Suspects

Bloomfield police are searching for the thieves who stole airbags from several cars, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police are searching for the thieves who stole airbags from several cars last week, authorities announced Thursday.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the thefts took place on Aug. 10. A Ring doorbell camera at the home of one of the victims captured images of two men stealing an airbag from her vehicle (see below).

MULTIPLE THEFTS - Officers responded to the area of Sylvan Road, Garrabrant Avenue and Bolton Place on several reports of theft from autos. According to the victims, their Honda CRV’s all had their windows broken and airbags stolen from inside the vehicle.

WATSESSING AVENUE - Officers responded to the 300 block of Watsessing Avenue on report of a theft from auto. According to the victim, sometime during the night, an unknown person broke the window to his mother’s Honda CRV and removed the airbag.

WALNUT STREET - Officers responded to the 100-block of Walnut Street on report of a theft from an auto. According to the victim, at around 2:30 a.m., her Ring doorbell camera captured footage of two men breaking her front driver’s side window and removing the airbag from her vehicle.
