Airbags, Catalytic Converter Stolen In Bloomfield: Police

Several Bloomfield residents reported that someone stole expensive auto parts from their cars on the same day, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Several Bloomfield residents reported that someone stole expensive auto parts from their cars on the same day last week, authorities said Wednesday.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following statements about the thefts, which took place on Oct. 6:

CATALYTIC CONVERTER – “Officers responded to Conger Street on report of a catalytic converter theft. A resident parked his work vehicle on the street on Oct. 5. When he returned to it the following morning, he noticed the catalytic converter was removed. This incident is under investigation.”

AIRBAGS – “Officers responded to the 200-block of Ampere Parkway on report of an airbag theft. A resident parked her Honda CRV on the street overnight. Upon returning to it in the morning, she noticed her driver side window was smashed and the air bag was removed from the steering wheel. While officers were on the scene, they were notified that three additional incidents involving airbag thefts from Honda CRVs had occurred overnight in the area. These incidents are under investigation.”
