Longtime Bloomfield Mail Carrier Retires, Earns Proclamation From Town

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — For nearly three decades, neither “snow nor rain nor heat” could stop Donald Densel from making his appointed rounds.

Earlier this week, the Bloomfield Town Council honored Densel, a local U.S. Postal Service letter carrier who is retiring after 27 years on the job.

Mayor Jenny Mundell and the township council presented a proclamation to Densel, thanking him for his “commitment, integrity and service to our community.”

“Through every season and in all conditions, Don has gone above and beyond to ensure Bloomfield residents receive their mail safely and reliably,” township officials said of Densel. “More than that, he’s been a familiar, friendly face in our neighborhoods – building connections and brightening the day for so many along his route.”

The town’s proclamation reads:

WHEREAS, Donald Densel has served the residents of the Township of Bloomfield with unwavering dedication and integrity as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service for 27 years; and

WHEREAS, throughout nearly three decades, Don has demonstrated exceptional commitment to duty, ensuring the timely and secure delivery of mail, parcels, and vital communications through storms, extreme heat, and harsh winter conditions; and

WHEREAS, beyond the official duties of the postal service, Don has become a trusted and familiar face in our neighborhoods, building lasting relationships, fostering community spirit, and offering friendly service that has brightened the daily lives of countless residents; and WHEREAS, this exemplary service has earned Don the deepest respect, gratitude, and admiration of the citizens and businesses of the Township of Bloomfield.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JENNY MUNDELL, as Mayor of the Township of Bloomfield, do hereby honor and commend Donald Densel for 27 years of standout service and wish him a happy, relaxing, and well-deserved retirement.
