Daycare Evacuated After Fire In Bloomfield, 12 People Displaced

Two pets were transported to a nearby animal hospital to be evaluated for possible smoke inhalation, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A dozen people were displaced after a fire at a building in Bloomfield on Tuesday. No injuries were reported, authorities said.

The fire broke out at 155-157 Grove Street and impacted two residential units, township officials said.

As a precaution, children from the neighboring daycare business – Kiddie World Daycare – were safely evacuated to the front of Carteret Elementary School, where they were reunited with their parents, authorities said.

Two animals were transported to the East Orange Animal Hospital for evaluation due to possible smoke inhalation.

Bloomfield Human Services is working alongside the American Red Cross to coordinate assistance for those affected, authorities said.

The Bloomfield Fire Department received mutual aid from Nutley, Belleville and Montclair.
