Bloomfield Sees 1 Vehicle Theft, 2 Attempted Thefts Over 3-Day Span

A car theft and two theft attempts recently took place in Bloomfield over a three-day span, police say.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A car theft and two theft attempts recently took place in Bloomfield over a three-day span, police say.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about each incident:

July 2 – "Officers responded to the area of Chester Avenue and North 15th Street on report of a motor vehicle theft. The complainant left his vehicle unlocked and running while he went to pick up food. The complainant then observed his vehicle accelerate and leave the scene. The vehicle, a white 2009 Volkswagen GTI, was entered stolen. This incident is under investigation."

July 3 – "Officers responded to the area of Davey Street on report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. A resident noticed that the rear passenger side window on his vehicle was smashed and the dashboard was damaged. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicles at this time. This incident is under investigation."

July 4 – "Officers responded to the area of Alfred Lane on report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. A resident noticed that the rear passenger side window on his vehicle was smashed and the dashboard and steering column were damaged. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicles at this time. This incident is under investigation."
