Bloomfield Vehicle Crimes: Attempted Car Theft, E-Bike Stolen

An e-bike was stolen in Bloomfield. Three days later, someone tried to steal a vehicle on Nancy Place, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Two vehicle-related crimes were reported in Bloomfield last week, police say.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about the incidents, which are both under investigation:

Aug. 20 – Officers responded to the 200-block of Bloomfield Avenue after getting a report about an e-bike theft. A resident reported that she left her e-bike unsecured at her residence overnight. When she returned in the morning, the e-bike was missing. The e-bike was valued at $600.

Aug. 23 – Officers responded to the area of Nancy Place after getting a report about an attempted motor vehicle theft. A resident provided surveillance video of a man entering his unlocked vehicle, stepping on the brakes and attempting to start the vehicle. After the vehicle did not start, the suspect ran into a waiting vehicle and fled.
