Attempted Burglary In Bloomfield Sets Off Home Alarm: Police

The men used a crowbar in an attempt to enter the home through a sliding rear door – then the panic alarm went off, Bloomfield police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — An attempted home burglary involving three men recently took place in Bloomfield, authorities said.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the incident was reported on Feb. 26:

“Officers responded to the area of Hawthorne Avenue on report of a burglary. According to a resident, three males attempted to gain entry into his residence using a crowbar through the rear sliding door. The panic alarm was activated and the males fled and entered a vehicle that was parked nearby.”

The incident is under investigation, Bloomfield police said.
