Auto Thefts At IHOP, Knights Of Columbus Lots In Bloomfield: Police

Vehicle thefts were reported at a Knights of Columbus parking lot and a local IHOP restaurant in Bloomfield, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Vehicle thefts were reported at a Knights of Columbus parking lot and a local IHOP restaurant in Bloomfield last week, authorities reported Thursday.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following statements about each incident.

Aug. 4 – The owner of a landscaping company in town responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a theft of a motor vehicle from 190 State Street (Knights of Columbus). The owner rents a parking space in the lot and parked his vehicle overnight and upon returning to it the following morning, he noticed it was missing. The vehicle is a green 2002 Ford pickup with an enclosed landscaper trailer and equipment attached. The total value of the vehicle and equipment is $40,000. The vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center as stolen. This incident is under investigation.

Aug. 6 – Officers responded to 542 Bloomfield Avenue (IHOP) after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. The owner left his vehicle running and went inside the IHOP. Upon returning to his vehicle, he noticed that it was missing. The owner’s wallet – which contained multiple credit cards – was inside the vehicle. The vehicle, a 2021 Hyundai, and was entered into the National Crime Information Center as stolen. This incident is under investigation.
