Back To School In Bloomfield: Well Wishes, Safety Reminders

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A time of “success, growth, and unforgettable memories” is just around the bend for students in Bloomfield.
Students in the Bloomfield Public School District will return for class on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Mayor Michael Venezia and other officials with the Township of Bloomfield recently extended a warm welcome back to all students, parents, teachers and staff.

“The start of the school year is a time when students of all ages open their minds to new knowledge and experiences, filled with success, growth, and unforgettable memories,” Venezia said.
“As we return to school, I want to emphasize that the safety and well-being of our students and educators remain our top priorities and we will continue to overcome any obstacles to achieve success,” Venezia said.

The mayor also highlighted the “importance of parental involvement in a child’s education,” adding that parents “play a crucial role in the success of the children’s educational journey.”
“While our dedicated teachers, support staff, and administrators work tirelessly to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment, your support, guidance, and engagement in your child’s education is invaluable,” Venezia said.
Meanwhile, School Superintendent Salvatore Goncalves recently released a back-to-school letter to the community, outlining some new programs and initiatives that parents and students should be aware of, including several facility upgrades. It isn’t just Bloomfield parents who should remember that kids are headed back to school this week, authorities say.
The Bloomfield Police Department recently posted the following back-to-school safety tips for drivers on social media:
- “Put the phones down!”
- “Watch for school zones”
- “Drop off and pick up in designated areas”
- “Stop for buses in both directions while they are loading and unloading children.”
- “Cross in designated crosswalks.”
- “Please respect our hardworking crossing guards!”
