Biggest Electric Car Meet-Up This Week In Montclair

More than 30 cars will be featured

Michael Thwaite, president of the N.J. Electric Auto Association, is inviting everyone to come out for the "biggest electric car meet-up in New Jersey's history," scheduled on Sunday, April 15 in Montclair.

Sponsored by the N.J. Electric Auto Association and Nauna's Bella Casa Ristorante, the event will feature more than 30 cars: Tesla Roadster, BMW ActiveE, Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf, Plug-in Prius, and more.

Come and check out the cars and also talk to real owners about what it's like to live with electric cars every day, Thwaite said. Find out why the owners are not anxious about range, how they don't run out of power all the time, and why they wouldn't swap their electric vehicles for even the most exotic sports cars, he said.

Everyone is welcome, especially if you don't have an electric car.  Now's the time to check them out.

Thanks to a grant from the Sustainable Jersey Project and Walmart, Montclair became the first municipality in the state to install public charging stations in September 2010. Currently, the township has four charging stations—two in the downtown business district and two in the Upper Montclair business district.
