Bloomfield $500 Sneaker Robbery: 3rd Suspect Surrenders To Cops

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — The third suspect in an alleged sneaker robbery that recently took place in an Essex County Wendy’s restaurant parking lot surrendered himself to police on Monday, authorities say.

The Bloomfield Police Department announced Thursday that Arioste Moncion, 23, of East Orange, turned himself into police custody after the launch of an investigation into the April 15 robbery. Police charged Moncion with robbery and transported him to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.

Police arrested a pair of other suspects in the robbery – Ahmari Gilmore, 21, and Bobby Reed, 23, both of Newark - a short time after the incident took place.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers received a report at 4:13 p.m. that a robbery was taking place in the parking lot of the Wendy’s restaurant on Bloomfield Avenue. Witnesses on the scene told officers that they saw three men accost a 41-year-old male victim and steal his sneakers, then punch and kick him while he was lying on the ground.

The victim sustained cuts and facial bruising during the attack, police said.

Authorities said that the sneakers were valued at $500.
