“Using industry tools and technology in the same facilities as our full-time students, Summer Ignite students have the opportunity to train in automotive, motorcycle and collision repair technologies. The skills taught in the program are the same as those included in some UTI courses but at no cost to you. Upon successful completion of the program, you can receive credit toward your education if you choose to attend one of UTI's tech schools after your senior year of high school. You’ll be one step closer to post-graduation training for a career as a skilled technician.”
Some topics may include:
- How vehicles are designed and manufactured
- How gasoline and diesel engines work
- Fundamental diagnostic, maintenance and repair skills
- Exciting technologies including computer management and control systems
- Steps to safely service hydraulic brakes
- Information on career opportunities for qualified technicians
“It’s encouraging to see growth in these competitions and in our ‘Summer Ignite’ program as we open students’ eyes to the need for skilled workers,” said Shawn Alexander, campus president at UTI-Bloomfield.
“It’s promising to see so many motivated, goal-driven young people willing to spend part of their summer taking our classes, learning new skills and getting a jumpstart on a technical education,” Alexander said.
