Bloomfield Bombers 13U Baseball Team Wins Quarterfinal Cerbo League Game
Team blasted Millburn 14-0 on Sunday.
On Sunday, the Bloomfield Bombers beat the Millburn 13U team, 14-0, in the first round of the Cerbo League playoffs.
Manny Corporan started on the mound and sent Millburn down in order in the top of the first. The Bombers managed to get a run across in the bottom of the first with a single and a stolen base by Eddie Abplanalp followed by a single by Craig Dittrich and an RBI groundout by Corporan.
Corporan again retired Milburn in order in the second. To lead off the bottom of the second, Kyle DiMatteo walked, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Kyle Tice singled to bring DiMatteo home to make the score 2-0. Rob Reboa walked to set up Elliot Urgent whose RBI single brought home Tice and made the lead 3-0.

At the start of the third, Corporan walked the leadoff hitter but regained his composure to retire the next three hitters. In the bottom half of the inning, Dittrich led off with a single. Mark Richards pinch ran for Dittrich and scored when DiMatteo reached on an RBI error. The Bombers were heading into the top of the fourth with a 4-0 lead.
Corporan, continuing his hot streak, got out of the inning with three ground balls. In the bottom of the fourth, the Bombers had their hitting shoes on when Reboa and Jordan DiFabritis both singled and Urgent walked to load the bases. Abplanalp singled to drive in two runs. Dittrich then ripped a single that scored another two. With the score 8-0, Corporan singled to set up Sean Demo who made the score 9-0 with an RBI double. Next, DiMatteo hit a RBI groundout and Tice hit an RBI single making the score 11-0. Liam Bejasa followed with a single to set up Richards’ RBI single. JJ Mendoza singled and Brandon Kelly reached on an error, scoring Mendoza. Abplanalp then singled to make the score 14-0.

In the top of the fifth, Millburn managed to get a hit but no runs against Corporan as the Bombers completed the 14-0 victory. Corporan pitched a five-inning complete game, only letting up one hit.
The Bombers are scheduled for another playoff game next weekend and hope to advance deeper into the post-season.
The victory followed a 9-1 defeat to the Northern Valley Ravens in the final game of the regular season. The Bombers managed just three hits, by Reboa, DiMatteo and Demo.
