Bloomfield Cat Rescue Prepares To Bid Town Farewell

It's been almost two years, but the Homeless Animal Adoption League of Bloomfield is almost set for its move to Clifton.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — It’s been almost two years since plans were first set in motion, but the Homeless Animal Adoption League (HAAL) is almost set for its move to Clifton. On Monday, the "no-kill, all volunteer" nonprofit cat shelter – which rescues, rehabilitates and finds loving adoptive families for felines in New Jersey – announced that Saturday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 19 will be its last public hours in Bloomfield.

Closing the Bloomfield location to public hours will give HAAL much-needed time to move equipment and supplies to the new building in preparation of a final relocation for its cats, staff said.

The organization has been renting a space in Bloomfield for the last 15 years, but its lease ended in 2016, leaving it on a month-to-month basis “with absolutely no protection,” HAAL staff previously stated.

A "special donor" helped the group purchase a building in Clifton, and the nonprofit received approval from Clifton town officials to move to the new "permanent home" from its current space in Bloomfield, HAAL staff said.
