Bloomfield Celebrates 'National Night Out,' Supports Police Officers
Bloomfield Mayor: "It's more important than ever that we collectively show our support to the great men and women of the police department."

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Earlier this week, Bloomfield joined with nearly 200 other towns across New Jersey to create a festive atmosphere for the community and support their local police department by celebrating National Night Out.
The annual event included food, entertainment and a “Police vs. Fire” softball game. This year, entertainment also included a Michael Jackson tribute band, face painting provided by Skyline Church, and a kid’s section that included a bounce house and dunk tank.
ShopRite provided water, soda and other snacks, and pizza was provided by the Bloomfield Recreation Department.

Residents in cities and towns across the country unite in solidarity with their local police officers for the annual National Night Out Against Crime, which began in 1984. Taking place on the first Tuesday of August every year, it gives residents and their local law enforcement officers a chance to create a sense of community.. Local vendors and businesses frequently set up tables at the events, and young children can often get an up-close look at police cars, ambulances and fire trucks.
“It was a fun time for all and I was thrilled to see so many people join us as we continue to rebound from the pandemic,” Bloomfield Mayor Michael Venezia said.

“With crime up significantly nationwide, it is more important than ever that we collectively show our support to the great men and women of the police department, who are among the first responders in the event of emergencies and work tirelessly to keep our community safe every day,” Venezia said.
