Bloomfield Cops Announce 2016 DWI Checkpoint Location, Date

Bloomfield police say the checkpoint is in response to a "disproportionate number of drunk driving incidents in the area."

BLOOMFIELD, NJ —The Bloomfield Police Department will hold a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint this weekend in response to a glut of drunk driving incidents on Bloomfield Avenue.

According to the BPD, the checkpoint will take place on Bloomfield Avenue on Sept. 3, and is “in response to statistics demonstrating a disproportionate number of drunk driving incidents in the area.”

“These operations are being conducted to raise awareness of impaired driving by educating motorist and arresting impaired drivers,” police stated.

Funding for the operation was provided by the Drunk Driving Enforcement Fund, police said.
