Bloomfield: Cops Arrest Wheelchair-Bound Man for Meth Distribution
Police seize over 200 grams of crystal methamphetamine in man's apartment.

Essex County Sheriff’s Office detectives announced the arrest of a wheelchair-bound Bloomfield man and his roommate for the possession of over 200 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
Acting on a search warrant after conducting a two-week investigation, officers entered the Franklin Street third-floor apartment of Gary Schuren, 54, and his roommate, 32-year-old Marcus Irizarry on Tuesday, March 17. According to authorities, a joint task force made a forced entry into the apartment and detained Schuren in the kitchen and Irizarry in the living room.
Police subsequently discovered 223 grams of methamphetamine, a variety of drug processing and packaging materials and $2,350 in cash secreted in numerous locations throughout the apartment.

After conducting a pat-down search of the suspects for officer safety, police found Irizarry to be in possession of an additional gram of crystal methamphetamine and a glass pipe.
Police also searched Schuren’s wheelchair and found $343 in cash.

Schuren and Irizarry were each charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of Essex County Vocational School, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and conspiracy to violate New Jersey’s narcotics laws.
The two suspects are being held at the county jail on a cash bond of $250,000 each.
