Bloomfield Cops Assist Drug Bust: 1,000 Heroin Envelopes Recovered, Also Codeine Syrup
Two men in a Jaguar pulled into a laundromat parking lot to find Bloomfield and Essex County police waiting for them, authorities say.

Police arrested two Essex County men in Newark last week, recovering almost 1,000 envelopes of heroin in the process, authorities said.
The arrests were a result of a joint effort between Essex County Sheriff’s Office detectives and the Bloomfield and Irvington police departments, conducted “in response to numerous neighborhood complaints of drug trafficking in the area.”
According to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, detectives conducted a plainclothes surveillance operation at the intersection of Crane and Webster streets in Newark’s North Ward around 5:30 p.m. on April 27.

Officers allegedly observed a 2005 Jaguar pull into the parking lot of a nearby laundromat, then saw the driver, later identified as Khalil ‘Lil’ Palmer, 33, of Newark and his passenger, Terrance ‘Redman’ Dix, 29, of Newark, “examining the contents of a black plastic bag.”
Moving in to investigate further, detectives positioned their unmarked vehicles so that the Jaguar was boxed in, police stated.

After police announced their presence, Palmer allegedly grabbed the plastic bag and threw it into the back seat area where its contents spilled out.
Palmer then allegedly put his car into gear and slammed it into two police vehicles, authorities stated.
After a brief struggle with Palmer and Dix, officers extricated both suspects from the Jaguar and handcuffed them, authorities said.
During a search of the car, officers found 999 heroin-filled glassine envelopes stamped ‘BONECRUSHER’ in green ink, along with a prescription bottle with the label removed that reportedly contained 319 liquid grams of Promethazine, a codeine syrup.
Palmer was also found to have an additional three decks of similarly marked heroin on his person, police said.
Authorities charged Palmer and Dix with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of CDS with intent to distribute and possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of Barringer Ninth Grade Academy. The two suspects were also charged with conspiracy to violate New Jersey’s narcotics laws.
Palmer was also charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and one count each of the unlawful possession of a weapon (vehicle), possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and resisting arrest, and was also issued a summons for possession of CDS in a motor vehicle.
Dix was also found to the subject an open warrant for willful non-support that was issued by the Essex County Superior Court.
Palmer and Dix were both ordered to be held at the county jail in lieu of $200,000 cash bond only.
