Bloomfield Cops Make Gun, Drug Arrests After Traffic Stops
Recovered firearms included an allegedly stolen .380 handgun loaded with hollow point bullets and a loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson.

Bloomfield, NJ – Bloomfield police made multiple drug and weapons arrests last week after stopping vehicles for alleged traffic offenses.
ILLEGAL TURN
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers arrested Miguel Rivera, 30, of Newark, around 10:34 p.m. on Saturday after stopping an Audi for allegedly making an illegal turn.

Rivera – who was a passenger in the front seat of the car - was found to be in possession of a loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun and four bags of suspected marijuana, police stated.
Rivera was arrested and transported to police headquarters, and given a bail set at $50,000. The driver was issued a motor vehicle summons and released at the scene, authorities stated.

NO LIGHTS
Bloomfield police officers made two additional drug and gun-related arrests on Sunday after allegedly witnessing a car exit a parking lot with no lights around 1:11 a.m.
Officers stopped the car at Bloomfield Ave and North 15th Street, and “immediately detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle,” as they approached, authorities allege.
Further investigation led to the discovery of an allegedly stolen .380 handgun loaded with hollow point bullets, a clear plastic bag of marijuana, a black digital scale and clear plastic sandwich bags, police said.
The car’s occupants - Anthony Gonzalez, 20, and Christopher Rivas, 20, both of Newark – were arrested and transported to police headquarters.
Gonzalez was charged with Unlawful Possession of a weapon, Receiving Stolen Property, Prohibited Devices (hollow point bullets) and numerous narcotic offenses. His bail was set at $25,000.
