Bloomfield Cops Make Traffic Stop, Find Gun and Drugs

The Bloomfield officers recovered a handgun, marijuana and "large amount of pills identified as Xanax and Oxycodone."

Bloomfield, NJ – Bloomfield police arrested three men for gun and drug offenses after a traffic stop last week.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop for a prohibited turn in the area of Dodd Street and Watsessing Avenue on March 1. During the stop, the officers discovered marijuana and “large amount of pills identified as Xanax and Oxycodone.”

During the subsequent arrest, the officers also found that one of the car’s occupants - Samuel Davila, 23, of Bloomfield – had a loaded handgun tucked into his right pants leg, authorities said.

Police arrested all three occupants of the car and charged them with the following offenses:

  • Jonathon Fontanez, 24, of Bloomfield - Possession of CDS, two motor vehicle summons
  • Lamar Sommers, 29, of East Orange - Held on an active warrant for Essex County Sheriff Department
  • Samuel Davila, 23, of Bloomfield - Charged with weapon offenses and two counts of possession of CDS
