Bloomfield Culvert On County’s Replacement List
Five culverts in Essex County will be replaced this summer, including one in Bloomfield, officials say.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Five culverts in Essex County will be replaced this summer, including one in Bloomfield, officials say.
The Locust Street culvert over Lloyd Brook in Bloomfield is one of the items on the list, in addition to culverts in West Orange, Millburn, Orange and Roseland.
Culverts – tunnels carrying a stream under a road or railway – also sometimes serve as a bridge for traffic to pass on them.

On Monday, Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. announced that work has started to replace the Lakeside Avenue culvert over the Wigwam Brook in West Orange, which was first built more than a century ago. Read More: Culvert That Bridges Essex County Brook Is Getting Replaced
