Bloomfield Dollar Store Worker Shoved, Kicked In Face: Police

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A shoplifting attempt turned violent at a discount store in Bloomfield last week, authorities said Friday.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to the Dollar General store at 600 Bloomfield Avenue on Aug. 9 after getting a call about a robbery.

A store employee told officers that a man and a woman concealed detergent and other items in a bag and tried to leave without paying. When the employee confronted them, the man allegedly pushed her to the ground and kicked her in the face. The suspects then fled the scene, police said.

Bloomfield police located Andrea Morton, 45, and Vita Ford, 43, both of Newark, and arrested them. They were taken to police headquarters and charged accordingly, authorities said.
