Bloomfield Elementary Teacher Faces Child Porn Charges

The 29-year-old teacher allegedly used his work and home computers to upload child pornography, prosecutors say.

A 29-year-old elementary teacher in the Bloomfield Public School System is facing child pornography charges after allegedly uploading illegal videos and images from his home and work computers.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Nicholas K. Schumacher, a resident of Randolph, with Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Distribution of Child Pornography) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Possession of Child Pornography).

According to prosecutors, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that child pornography was being uploaded by Schumacher.

Authorities were allegedly able to trace the email addresses and Internet Protocol addresses to Schumacher’s home in Randolph and his workplace in Bloomfield.

The Randolph Municipal Court set Schumacher’s bail at $75,000 with no 10 percent option. Bail conditions include no contact with children under the age of 16, no possession of firearms and surrender of the defendant’s passport.

During a subsequent bail hearing, Schumacher’s bail was reduced to $50,000.
