Bloomfield Friends Of The Library Celebrates 80th Anniversary

The Bloomfield Friends of the Library will hold a public celebration on Oct. 18. See some signed books that will be raffled off here.

It was 80 years ago that the first Sugar Bowl was played, the Monopoly board game went on sale for the first time and The Bloomfield Friends of the Library was created.

This month the Bloomfield Friends of the Library will mark four-fifths of a century of support for the Bloomfield Public Library.

To commemorate the occasion, the group will host a public celebration at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Oakeside Bloomfield Cultural Center.

Friends of the Library President, Gary Iacobacci noted the group’s 80-year milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the work of those who have come before them.

“I’m looking forward to the 80th Anniversary Celebration as a chance to greet library friends old and new and to invite all to join in our ongoing commitment to the Bloomfield Public Library,” Iacobacci stated.
